During this session, we were mainly practicing our drawing skills. I love drawing but I did not have any experience in drawing shoes. It was kind of challenging for me to figure out how to draw the shape of the shoe in different angles. I struggled with drawing the birds-eye-view angle of shoes because it was so hard to make it look 3D. My drawing looked so flat. It was much easier for me to draw shoes from the side. I enjoyed the process of colouring using markers but I usually always use markers so for my other drawing I decided to use chalk. It was my first time using chalk and I did not like it at all. I felt that it made my drawing extremely messy and look very child-like. Although I did not like how my drawing turned out I was happy that I experimented with new media.
We also did some contour line drawings and drawing with the left hand (I am right handed). I have a tendency to focus on being perfect because I hate failure or being messy. With contour line its really hard to make it look perfect. I think with some more practice I can improve my contour line drawing skills. I still have a hard time accepting the fact that not all of my work is going to look perfect, but I constantly remind myself that perfection isn’t achievable. I also remind myself that the most important thing is that I put in the hard work and that I try my best.
