Upon reviewing my classmates work whilst they reviewed mine I learned a lot of things. Not only have I learned things about my classmates but I also learned what they thought of my work and what pathway they thought I was most suitable for. Fashion styling, Fashion PR and communication, Fashion Marketing and Fashion journalism were the pathways suggested by my classmates after they reviewed my work. I would like to go into Fashion PR and communications so I was extremely happy that I showed skills for that course within my work. After reviewing my classmates work I also realised how many things I could add to my work. For example, Bel used a lot of text like movie quotes or lyrics to compliment her imagery and I hadn’t thought about using quotes from my favourite movies before. I also learned from my classmate Shannon that it’s better to have a variety of images to show your progress and experimentation rather than just a single image from a shoot. I also got inspiration on different ways to layout my images. This session was really helpful to me because I realised that I have a lot of work and edits that I didn’t include because I didn’t think that it was good enough. When in reality, including experimentation and imperfect images helps to show my creative progress and the work I have done in order to achieve the final outcome. I also realised that I need to include more journalism within my magazine layout. What I was surprised about was that my classmates really applauded my styling, I never realised that that was something that I was good at. Overall, it was good to get a perspective on how people view my work and my skills because from that I now know my strengths and weaknesses. I am ready to fully improve and add on to my work so that I am ready for submission day.
