During this session I learned so much about what content was actually in a magazine. Before this session, I was only focused on the pretty pictures in the magazine and I never truly focused on what else was in there. As someone studying media, it’s extremely important that I know what goes in to a magazine which was why this session was helpful. I also realised how different genres of magazines appeal to different people and age groups. Magazines such as Vogue or Elle are made for a super generic audience while others such as Paper or DAZED are made for a specific niche. The aesthetic between the genres are extremely different, one is a lot more basic and one is more experimental. I prefer magazines that are experimental because I find them so interesting to look at. I also learned about how magazines are made due to a large number of contributors. It made me realise that the key to making a good magazine is to collaborate with others. It was helpful for me to learn more about what goes on in a Magazine as I hope to work in a Magazine publication some day.
