During this session we were tasked with experimenting with several different images to create digital collages. My personal goal was to get out of my comfort zone and experiment as much as I possibly can. In this class I learned that images can add value to a brand and can communicate subtle messages to the audience. A powerful image can change everything, and an image can only be powerful if it is edited in a way that communicates the message. I really enjoyed playing around with different filters and elements. There were times where I would overlay images on top of images and they would turn out super cool and sometimes it turns out really ugly. It’s all about experimenting and finding out which images match each other and which ones don’t. The challenge with this is that theres no such thing as a perfect image or a right image so you really just have to create a variety in order to pick out which ones are closer to that. I think that there is lots of room for improvement for me because although I am good at digital collages, I think that practicing more will help me become even better. I was really proud of myself when I had the idea to overlay an image of a portrait of Bel on top of a picture of mushrooms that I took in Borough Market during the External session. I thought that that was my best outcome, and it was only because I kept trying to achieve something with different images until I got to that point and I realised “Wow! thats what I was going for”.
